Water crises
In today’s world each and every country is aware about the harsh
reality of water depletion but the hangover of modernization and the race to
outshining each other has made them dumb. There are many cities where people
thrive for water, and are some areas where peoples don’t give any shit to water
because the water is available for them 24*7 a week. There are many countries
where water is getting scarce day by day and India is among one of them. The government
should also take necessary measures for overcoming this problem, but I don’t
think our current government is doing something for this. In a recent Lok Sabha
meeting where water crises was to be discussed, hardly 10-12 members were there
to attend the meeting which shows than no one is bothered about scarcity of
water. In Asia, India has the most amount of water available as compared to
other fellow countries. But still why we hear that there is scarcity of water in
a country like India where water is available in huge number, the actual reason
is people don’t have value of what they get in abundance. There are some
countries, which have found solution for this problem and are actually
implementing it, India should also learn from other countries.
·
Israel: Israel has most advanced
techniques for solving this problem. Firstly, Israel stopped unnecessary
wastage of water, then it developed the technique for cleaning waste water by
this they increased the percentage of water in water bodies by discharging it
in their natural bodies. The water harvesting system of Israel is very modern
and effective. By following these techniques Israel has become a scarce free
state.
·
Brazil: Brazil has done a great job in the
rain water harvesting system. In this system the rainwater is collected from
the rooftops and then it goes through pipe and gets stored in a tank. Brazil has
18% of world’s fresh water, but the big cities of Brazil get only 28% of water.
So in order to cope up with this situation they implemented rain water
harvesting on a larger scale and the government of Brazil urged people to adopt
this method.
·
Singapore: Singapore spread the network of
storm water harvesting in whole country, in this method the water from floods are
collected and then further processed to make it fit for consumption. The flood
water is collected from drains, roads, parks, gardens etc.
·
China: China started a project named 121
to control scarcity of water, in this project Chinese government adopted rain
water harvesting. This project was launched in 1990 after the acute water
shortage in whole country. Under this project each family has to store at least
2 buckets of rain water. This project proved to be successful.
·
Australia: the Australian government gives
financial support to those people who save water, the government also urges
people to adopt various techniques and methods to reduce the crises.
It is said that if
there would be next world war then it will be on water. So India should also take some serious steps
regarding this situation otherwise it will lead to war and chaos.
